Prepping Scenes
Since we could not finish filming all the scenes, we decided to edit the scenes we did have and get ahead of the editing process. I began to look at my phone's camera roll and review all the scenes we had done. I cleaned the videos up a bit by deleting the unnecessary, blooper clips that were taking up a lot of space. I then sent specific clips to each member so that they could begin working and editing. We based who who edit each scenes on what storyboards each member did. Since I drew and wrote explanations on the first 12 scenes, those were the ones I would be editing. When piecing my clips together, I discovered that were were missing a few clips. We missed the closeup of the phone with the text messages and a wide shot of the daughter walking out of her room. We also planned the next filming dates and editing schedule. Two of the group members had emergencies which gave our group greater difficulties. Moreover, since we spent a lot of time trying to figure out the angles of scenes on the set, we made it a point to get the angles in our mind before we showed up for filming. We also finalized the eerie music that we would be using throughout the middle portion of the film. One member found royalty free music on a website that we could use. I also shared my previous research on editing techniques and filters with my group members. This way, since everyone was editing separately, we could all be on the same page and have a faster editing process. I made sure to see if anyone had questions that were helpful and could further influence our film. One member had a question on if we could use slow motion for certain parts of the film. Even though this was not going to be a part of the film, it opened up everyone's mind to be open to new ideas. These past couple of weeks have been focused on mainly furthering our knowledge on editing skills and techniques. We will not be filming this weekend, but the next.
