Filming Blog: Bubbling Sounds and White Lighting
Sunday, November 1st, is the day I started and finished the filming part of my commercial. Since the sun was not entirely out, myself and my sister filmed that shots that did not need the bright lighting first. I had to adjust the time between takes to wait for when the sun was at its brightest. First, I had to move my desk in front of a plan wall in my house. We did use white lightbulbs in lamps to achieve a clear, crispy shot and lighting that could bounce off the plain wall. Although, we did have trouble shooting with the shadows behind me. My first shot was a picture of the beginning card before the commercial began. I positioned the lighting to where I needed it, in front of the camera and me. While I was taking this picture, water was boiling on the stove to produce the bubbling sound. Although, while I was listening to the recording of the boiling water, it sounded similar to rain and not that of bubbling. I then took a straw in a glass of water and pushed air to produce bubbles. This gave me a better, crisp bubble sounds than before. We then shot all the shots that needed a voice over without myself being entirely in it. This way I was able to get all of the action shots out of the way without troubles. At first, I was going to use a black shirt to show a wine stain, but later realized it would be harder to see a wine stain on a black item of clothing. I then switched the black dress to a white shirt. I used a turkey baster to get the wine stain exactly where I wanted it to be. After this, I filmed the beginning intro and ending of the commercial with myself in it. This took the longest amount of time seeing that I was not able to get it done in one take. It was difficult for me to produce a loud and firm, yet crisp voice. The whole process took a little over an hour and thirty minutes.
