Planning to FIlm
This upcoming project of an original movie opening scene will be the most time consuming Media Studies project that I have encountered during this school year. Seeing that this will also be my first time working with a group of people, it will be a new experience with many challenges. The final product of this project is not due until a month from now. Therefore, my group and I will be able to take our time with filming and editing the opening scene of our movie. We have decided to not start filming, but rather wait until all of us can set dates for filming. We will be able to plan out our filming days so that everyone can show up and get the job done. Also, since we are in a pandemic, it is harder to plan accordingly for a large group of people. Making sure everyone can show up at the same time will be a great challenge that we will face. However, I do have hope that we will overcome this by taking less time in reshooting any scenes we mess up. We will also be taking this time to plan every little detail out so that we can be fully prepared and not waste any time when filming. Also, with testing season coming up, I will need to balance this major project with other core class tests and AICE exams. Moving forward, our project will mainly be filming outside in a community and public park. This means that we will need to be cautious of who and what will be surrounding us during filming. Our safety team will make sure to tell us to put masks on when people are near. During a portion of the opening sequence, two girls will be sitting on swings. These swings are not under any tent or shade from a tree. Just incase it rains the day we decide to film outside, I made sure to have a plan b space which will be under a tent so that our shooting can continue to prosper. When deciding who was going to be acting which scenes and characters, we found difficulties. I found that not everyone in my group wanted to be physically shown on screen. This caused great difficulty because of the abundance of characters we needed when there was a limit of actors. However, we overcame this challenge by taking responsibility and holding ourselves accountable to our group mates. I do expect there to be some scene changes seeing that our storyboard can be seen as choppy. I will need to adapt quickly to new changes seeing that I will be the main person filming this project. Even though our filming has not officially started yet, we are fully prepared for out first filming date as planned.
