Camera Skills and Makeup Malfunction

 My group and I will be filming the rest of the film in 4 days. Since one of the group members, who is not in the state, comes back the day before we film, we will spend majority of our time planning the scenes we need to finish. Focusing on specific details, figuring our angles will be our main goal. This was our biggest difficulty on our previous filming day. Since every group member drew different storyboards, it was difficult to bring someone else's vision to the screen being the camera man. I am also focusing on furthering my experience and skills as a camera person since I am filming on my phone. I am constantly looking up new tools and YouTube videos to help me in the filming process. I learned how to center a main object by using a grid, keeping my phone steady by using a leveler, and to adapt the screen to a nigh time lighting. I also experimented with different angles for the project. I had my sister help me in this process by acting as the mother in scenes that I would be filming in a couple of days. With her as the place holder, I was able to use and see the new tools that I learned in action. It also gave me a better idea on how to talk to someone face to face on what the scene is going to look like and what the actor should do. I was able to fully communicate to a person about what was expected, which was crucial for our upcoming filming day. We needed to get the filming portion done quickly and communication is a key factor. When reviewing the already filming scenes, I noticed a factor that we forgot to add when shooting. When Jane is walking out of her house and there is a closeup of her face, she is supposed to appear tired and depressed. To do this, Jane was supposed to have light purple and black makeup under her eyes and lips. However, when we were present there, our minds went all over the place and we were not as unified as we thought. I presented this to me group and we all decided to leave it the way it was because we might not have enough time to reshoot on our next filming day. Overall, I am better prepared for our next filming day and am looking forward to finishing the shooting portion of this film.

Introduction to the Music Video Project

For this music video project, I have decided to work by myself and not with multiple people. I do believe that I will excel in this way by not having anything holding me back as I have learned with previous assignments. Being in a pandemic, for my safety and others, it is important to keep up the social distancing and have no large gatherings. Although, I will have additional help for my film through close family. I believe that I will get this project done efficiently if I only rely on myself and my production skills. This way I am able to hold myself accountable for anything that might occur, in my favor or not. I will also be able to be more creative in my work which would be very difficult in a group of conflicting ideas. I also hope to further my production skills and become more familiar with the filming industry by doing this project. Editing Blog: Testing Filters and Adjusters

   As I finished filming, I began editing and piecing my videos, clips, and audios together. After airdropping the video clips from my phone to the laptop, I began importing the first half of the music video into iMovie. This took a little bit of time considering how long each file was. Some of my clips were a little longer than what I anticipated when shooting. I needed to trim them down to 5 seconds or less in order for the clips to fit the time frame. Some scenes were extremely longer meaning that I needed to trash them all together and film another day. I attempted to either slow down or speed up clips so that they could fit in, but they looked too awkward and out of place. I then added the 1 minute audio of the song I chose and placed it over the clips. I made sure to silent and mute every clip I had so that the music could be clearly heard and not covered by any noises in the videos.
