Our Pitch

The upcoming media project requires our group to produce a 2 minute intro to a movie that we are creating. Our group all agreed to use the same continuous theme of suspense and thriller in the movie intro. The movie genre thriller can be characterized as holding suspense, anxiety, or excitement. It draws the audience in by leaving them on the edge of their seat throughout the entire film. We decided to focus on creating a plot with a thriller genre as it seemed like it would be fun and interesting, yet challenge our skills as film producers. However, there were some concerns and difficulties when deciding and agreeing to a complete concept. We began by thinking of similar movies in the thriller, suspense genre that we all enjoyed. Topics of murder, stalking and more began to arise in our various discussions. For example, one of our members was inspired by the show Defending Jacob, and wanted our movie to incorporate elements of a child murderer. We then began to explore various plots and detailed stories that we could incorporate as our main focus and "problem". As mentioned above, the first concept we explored was that of a child murderer. However, since there was disagreement between the group members, we decided to expand the idea. The idea grew into the concept of a series of kidnappings. One of our group members suggested the idea of a mother using her child to lure other kids into her home to kidnap them. The group agreed upon liking this idea and we chose it as our first pitch. We continued to brainstorm within the thriller genre, and found another idea that was more on the mystery side. As we continued to brainstorm more ideas for our thriller film, we came across a murder solving mystery. This idea consisted of a child's father being lost and the father begins to leave clues for his child. The child soon begins to unravel the mystery as they start piecing them together. As we reviewed each of our pitches, we came to a conclusion. We wanted to do a film that would keep the audience intrigued the most throughout the entire film. From our two pitches, we ending up choosing the concept of a mother kidnapper as this idea would promote curiosity and suspense in the audience.
