Shooting Script

Scene 1

  • A wide, establishing shot of the front of house, including the driveway and sidewalk.

  • Lighting: sunshine

Scene 2

  • Pan of Jane laying in bed with a phone in her hand.

  • Close up of the phone showing a text message and Jane’s fingers typing.

  • Diegetic sound: phone notification sound and keyboard clicks

  • Wide shot of Jane getting up from her bed and walking towards her bedroom door.

  • Lighting: sunshine with slight shade from curtains

Scene 3

  • Wide shot of Mom cleaning the kitchen.

  • Jane comes down the hallway. 

  • Diegetic sound: Mom speaks to Jane as Jane walks in the kitchen, Jane responds, Mom responds back. 

  • Mom gets a backpack from the side table in the kitchen. 

  • Lighting: bright lights from kitchen and sunshine from windows

Scene 4

  • Diegetic sound: door opening

  • Medium shot of Jane walking out, following is Mom.

  • Diegetic sound: Mom speaks to Jane.

  • Jane turns around to face her in front of the doorway.

  • Mom steps back and closes the door as Jane turns back around and continues walking.

  • Diegetic sound: door closes

  • Lighting: sunshine with slight shade

Scene 5

  • Wide shot of the outside of the house as Jane walks down the driveway

  • Diegetic sound: Jane’s footsteps

  • Lighting: sunshine

Scene 6

  • Close up on Jane’s shoes as she walks

  • Close up on Jane’s face as she puts on headphones

  • Now, from Jane’s point of view we look down at our shoes and closing our eyes

  • Diegetic sound: Jane’s footsteps, no audio once headphones are in

  • Lighting: sunshine with slight shade from trees

Scene 7

  • Still in Jane’s POV; eyes open and we see Emily

  • Jane removes her headphones

  • The girls greet each other and walk towards the park

  • Diegetic: silence as we see Emily; once headphones are removed we can hear Emily’s voice; footsteps as the girls walk 

  • Lighting: slightly shaded because of trees

Scene 8

  • Cuts back to the mom at home

  • Close-up on mom’s hand and the items she is sharpening knives

  • Zoom out on moms hands as she continues to sharpen knifes

  • Diegetic sound: the mother humming (in a creepy way) as she prepares

  • Lighting: low-key lighting within the house

Scene 9

  • Long shot as jane and Emily are on the swings laughing

  • Lighting: (Dark) Sun is setting

  • Diegetic type of sound as Jane and emily are talking and the rest of the action going on at the park

Scene 10

  • Low angle mid shot to show the mom leaning over to fluff pillows

  • Diegetic sound: Eerie music as the mom is getting her plan ready

  • Lighting: low-key lighting with many shadows

Scene 11

  • Mid shot to show the girls taking selfies on the playground

  • Lighting: sunset lighting- oranges and dark yellows

  • Diegetic sound of the girls talking and the kids playing on the playground, etc.

Scene 12

  • Cuts to mom in the kitchen making tea

  • Diegetic sound: eerie music continues; mom chuckling

  • Lighting: Low Key lighting as well as the illumination of the cell phone

Scene 13

  • Mid Shot/Pan to Jane and Emily in the parking long as they’re talking

  • Diegetic sound: Jane talks to Emily, Emily responds

  • Lighting: slight moonlight with sunsetting

Scene 14

  • Wide shot of Jane and Emily walking towards the house

  • Diegetic sound: Jane speaks to Emily

  • Sting and/or foreshadowing music when the house is on screen

  When our group was conducting research, we focused on a website called Art of the Title. We decided to view and research this website because it would further our knowledge in the opening credit scenes and help us with our upcoming project. In this website, it describes in words and pictures what a movie’s opening sequence and scenes are. We were able to see opening sequences of various film genres and movies, specifically thriller. Our group also saw that the opening sequences of the thriller movies were from different eras. This meant that we could see how the opening scenes evolved over time to add to the depth of the movie or film. We could also see how different directors of various films had different visions for their opening sequence. For example, one director took the title of the film literally, while another director focused on the editing portion. Introduction to the Music Video Project

For this music video project, I have decided to work by myself and not with multiple people. I do believe that I will excel in this way by not having anything holding me back as I have learned with previous assignments. Being in a pandemic, for my safety and others, it is important to keep up the social distancing and have no large gatherings. Although, I will have additional help for my film through close family. I believe that I will get this project done efficiently if I only rely on myself and my production skills. This way I am able to hold myself accountable for anything that might occur, in my favor or not. I will also be able to be more creative in my work which would be very difficult in a group of conflicting ideas. I also hope to further my production skills and become more familiar with the filming industry by doing this project. Editing Blog: Testing Filters and Adjusters

   As I finished filming, I began editing and piecing my videos, clips, and audios together. After airdropping the video clips from my phone to the laptop, I began importing the first half of the music video into iMovie. This took a little bit of time considering how long each file was. Some of my clips were a little longer than what I anticipated when shooting. I needed to trim them down to 5 seconds or less in order for the clips to fit the time frame. Some scenes were extremely longer meaning that I needed to trash them all together and film another day. I attempted to either slow down or speed up clips so that they could fit in, but they looked too awkward and out of place. I then added the 1 minute audio of the song I chose and placed it over the clips. I made sure to silent and mute every clip I had so that the music could be clearly heard and not covered by any noises in the videos.
